The scholarship grants 50,000 CAD per year to cover tuition and other expenses. The Vanier Canada Graduate scholarship has a validity of three years.
Students pursuing doctoral courses in the fields of health research, national sciences, social sciences, engineering research, or humanities research are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Ontario Graduate Scholarships
The Ontario Graduate Scholarships are extended to international students who wish to study in Canada. The scholarship grants 5,000 CAD per session to every student and has a validity of 6 years. Students pursuing doctoral courses at the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

A total monetary award of 14,000 CAD is granted for Master’s degree studies and an amount of 18,000 CAD is granted for doctorate studies. Students receive this fellowship during the first 24 months of their master’s program and the first 48 months of their doctorate program.

Note: that students pursuing an MBA are not eligible for this fellowship.

While the scholarships mentioned above are lucrative funding sources for your higher education, they rely heavily on your academic record and provable merit. The competition for these scholarships is fierce and only the most qualified students are likely to receive them.
Moreover, achieving a scholarship to study in Canada does not entitle you to study at that particular college or university. You will also need to provide evidence of the necessary financial means.
It is also important to keep in mind that a scholarship does not exempt you from pre-entrance exams. You are still required to take TOEFL, IELTS or other English proficiency tests.
